Parent-Teacher Conference Meals

Mountain families provide meals for our amazing staff during Parent-Teacher Conferences to let them know how much we appreciate them! Wednesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 8th we will be lunches and Friday, February 9th will be breakfast.

LANL Employee Giving Campaign

November 13th to December 8th is the annual drive for the LANL employee giving campaign. Last year LANL matched donation at 40% making your gift to the PTA go even further. Employees can chose to give to Mountain Elementary PTA as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit via payroll deduction. Did you know that all the money you donate goes directly to your charity? LANS picks up the administrative fee. No money goes to United Way unless you give directly to United Way.

Do you have more that one cause you wish to support? Don’t worry you can choose donation multiple organizations.

How to Sign Up

Using the Giving Tool quick link on the far right the LANL Inside page:
  1. Search Mountain in the search box, change to any words, NM, Los Alamos
  2. Mountain Elementary PTA will pop up in the list and select (address is 2280 North Road, Los Alamos, NM 87544).
  3. Choose biweekly or one-time giving.
  4. Decide how much to give and be sure to click Save & Proceed and then Submit.
  5. Deductions will be reflection on your January 4th, 2018 paycheck.

Calling all 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grade artists! It is time for Mountain's annual yearbook cover contest. The winning design will be the cover for the 2017-2018 yearbook. 

Guidelines:

• Depict the theme: Mountain Elementary is out of this World!

• Submit art on 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper 

• Include your name and your teacher’s name on the back in pencil

• Turn your picture into classroom teacher by Tuesday, November 14th

Tips for a Successful Entry:

• Not a lot of white space - use lots of colors (including background)

• Use bold colors! You may use crayon, marker, paint, colored pencils or any other medium to draw and color

• Use the whole sheet of paper. Keep whats important in the design away from the edges of the paper to avoid artwork being cut in the trimming proces

Please join us for the annual Halloween Carnival. This year's Pumpkin Palooza is shaping up to be an event you will not want to miss! There are new games, crafts, and fun free activities.

Due to the rainy weather, the Space Race will take place indoors at school today. K-3rd will still be 9-10 am and 4th-6th at 10-11 am. Parents can still come participate and cheer!

The 1st Day School Supply kits have been delivered to Mountain. If you ordered a kit it will be placed in your child's classroom. You can check your child's supply kit out on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 2:30 - 3:30 during the Meet the Teacher event.

The Spring Book Fair will be open Thursday, April 20 to Wednesday, April 26. New hours this year are before school, lunchtime, and after school. It will also be open during Family Reading Night (4/20). The volunteer sign-up is now available! Volunteers receive 10% off on their book fair purchases.

We have an opening for PTA secretary for next school year. Are you interested in making a difference? Learning what goes on behind the scenes at school? The secretary manages PTA membership and meeting minutes in addition to helping fellow officers make decisions. Contact us for more info. Elections will be held at the April meeting.

Students, staff and volunteers are hard at work on the yearbook! Online ordering is now available - order by March 24. Or send cash or checks made out to Mountain Elementary PTA for $20 by April 24 (download order form). We also need more candid photos of students. Email them to mountainelementaryphotos@gmail.com. Will Jean is fundraising for his Eagle Scout project to build a GaGa pit for Mountain's upper playground! Donate and/or attend the Waffle/Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 5th 7:30 am - 10:30 am at the Pajarito Masonic Lodge (15th St. & Canyon).

If you are a LANL employee, this is one of the best ways to donate because LANL will match your donation up to a certain percent. It's not too late to designate us as one of your 501(c)3 recipients - you must redesignate annually! Click here to learn how.
